Capital District Parkinson’s Support Group – Elections 2020


We will be holding elections for positions in the leadership of the Capital District Support Group. The elections will be held at our January meeting on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00PM.

We are actively looking for more people to join us in helping our group to continue to thrive.

Please let Jud Eson (eson.jud at gmail.com) know if you would like to help with any part of these positions. Positions may be held individually or two or more people could share a position.

President –

  • Presides at meetings
  • Appoints committees when necessary
  • Fills any vacancies
  • Works with vice president and committee members to arrange for speakers and/or meeting agendas

Vice President –

  • Act in absence of President
  • Perform tasks requested by President as required
  • Works with president and committee members to choose presenters and/or meeting agendas
  • Communicates with potential and/or scheduled presenters
  • Answers questions from members and the public about local PD resources and our group
  • Reserves meeting room and coordinates necessary room set up

Treasurer –

  • Responsible for income, pays all bills and keeps all fiscal records
  • Maintains paid membership list and conveys that list to Publicity / Correspondence chair chair
  • Reports to the President prior to each meeting the current state of the treasury

Publicity / Correspondence –

  • Maintains website
  • Maintains e-mail mailing list
  • Notifies members of meetings and events
  • Place meeting notices in local publications
  • Writes thank you notes to presenters and for donations

Hospitality –

  • Arranges for refreshments to be available at regular meetings
  • Helps coordinate special events such as holiday party and summer picnic

Party planner –

  • Arranges date, time, location, decorations, food, entertainment, events and attendee reservations for winter holiday party and summer picnic

Greeters (2) –

  • Greets meeting attendees as they enter event
  • Collects email addresses of new members and conveys that list to
  • Makes name tags

At large committee members (2) –

  • Help in group planning
  • Help at meetings as needed and when possible
  • Take notes at meetings and make them available to Publicity / Correspondence chair
